annual 3-day PLD course.
A good understanding of the scientific and technological background of Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) controlled by high pressure RHEED and sufficient experimental skills are essential to make optimal use of the functionalities of our PLD equipment.
In order to share knowledge and practical experience on PLD, every year we organise a 3-day PLD course, especially effective for starting PhD students with basic experience of PLD. The main goal of the course is to provide an in-depth introduction to the various technical and scientific aspects of RHEED-controlled PLD.
The course includes lectures by Demcon TSST, Coherent (as supplier of excimer lasers), STAIB (as supplier of RHEED systems), and the Inorganic Materials Science (IMS) group from the University of Twente.
To put theory into practice, hands-on training is given on state-of-the-art PLD/RHEED systems at the MESA+ institute for nanotechnology. Furthermore, there will be possibilities for open discussion on topics submitted by the participants.
